Well, I lost my favorite pen, yesterday. I had had it in my jeans pocket, which I rarely do: I only ever put it in my shirt pocket or jacket pocket. However, I had used it at home and put it in my pocket to bring it back to my room. Then, I took the jeans off for laundry.
I discovered what had happened when I took my jeans out of the dryer, and the pen cap fell out. I looked around for the pen but couldn’t find it. Finally, looked closer at the dryer, and saw it in the lint trap through the holes in the drum.
So, I left a note for the laundromat workers, saying that I’d be back this evening to get my pen. But, I was too late. The guy who worked there had cleaned out the lint traps and thrown the pen out. He said he thought he remembered throwing out a pen. He didn’t look in the mailbox before he cleared the traps. Anyway, he let me dig through the big trash bag, and I spent a few minutes looking through it. I gave up after about 5 minutes. I suppose I could have been more thorough, but I didn’t want to spread the trash all over the sidewalk. The guy was very apologetic, but it wasn’t his fault. *sigh*
Rotring doesn’t make those pens anymore: they’re out of the ‘nice pen’ business and purely concentrating on the graphic pen and pencil lines. They’re a bit of a collectible, though also useful, item. I bought mine for about $30, as I recall. But you can get them for $60 and above, nowadays. For instance, from this store.
